About your Training

Our advanced training is designed for those who have already completed the Stage I: Certificate in Clinical Hypnotherapy.  The overall training programme is divided across four one-week, modular courses as follows,

Stage I: Certificate in Clinical Hypnotherapy.  Initial 7 days of basic training.
Stage II: Advanced Certificate in Cognitive-Behavioural Hypnotherapy.  Additional 7 days of advanced training.
Stage III: Diploma in Cognitive-Behavioural Hypnotherapy.  Final 7 days of advanced hypnotherapy training.
Stage IV: Advanced Diploma in Evidence-Based Hypno-Psychotherapy.  New module, details to be announced.

The advanced training (Stages II & III) is designed to take your skills as a professional hypnotherapist to the next level. As students will already have completed some initial hypnotherapy training the focus is upon developing their existing skills and adding to their repertoire of techniques.  Advanced techniques of hypnotherapy are introduced and hypnotherapy is situated within the broader context of evidence-based psychotherapy within the cognitive-behavioural tradition.

Students are provided with detailed training in our unique, proprietary system of hypno-psychotherapy, called Hypno-CBT®

The advanced programme also differs from traditional hypnotherapy training in that students will be encouraged to think about the wider implications of hypnotism and the philosophical framework within which they will be operating as a clinical hypnotherapist.  We call our unique synthesis of modern cognitive-behavioural hypnotherapy and classical Socratic philosophy, Philosophical Hypnotherapy™.

Students will also be introduced to the basic principles and techniques of other models of hypnotherapy and psychotherapy to provide a broader understanding of the application of hypnotherapy within an integrative psychotherapeutic framework.

Completion of the entire programme of training, culminating in the HPD, allows students to apply for full professional registration with the General Hypnotherapy Register (GHR).

On registering for the HPD award, usually at the start of stage III, you will be eligible for trainee membership of the National Council for Hypnotherapy (NCH).

Entry Requirement

Completion of the Stage I: Certificate in Clinical Hypnotherapy or equivalent qualification is a requirement of enrolment on Stage II; Stage II must be completed before proceeding to Stage III.  If you already have hypnotherapy training you may be eligible to join the course at an advanced level.  Please contact us for details.

Students must be aged 18 or over. This course is not suitable for people with a history of psychosis, i.e., schizophrenia or other serious psychiatric problems.  Students should be fluent in spoken English.  You must notify us before enrolling if you have a criminal record.

Course Materials

Every student will receive a free copy of our detailed and comprehensive Diploma Training Manual.

Additional scripts, forms, question papers, and other handouts will be supplied.

We recommend that students also possess a copy of the recommended course textbook, Hartland's Medical & Dental Hypnosis, though this is optional.

Assessment

During Stages II and III, Students are assessed by completion of a written test on hypnotherapy and other assessment material are compiled for the completion of a vocational training portfolio.

Course Duration

When combined with the Stage I Certificate, your total diploma training will equal 21 classroom days, plus additional home study time.

Course Content*

This course is designed to introduce students to more advanced techniques in hypnotherapy.  It goes beyond the use of basic "suggestion" hypnotherapy to look at the use of hypnotherapy within a model of integrative hypno-psychotherapy.

The course focuses primarily upon the application of hypnotherapy within a broadly cognitive-behavioural framework, which we term Hypno-CBT®.
