Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy for Insomnia
A training in CBT for Insomnia integrated with hypnotherapy.
This one day workshop for therapists will provide sound basic training in treating clients presenting with insomnia and sleeplessness issues. The approach used is based on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy integrated with hypnotherapy. CBT for Insomnia (CBTI) is an excellent example of the application of cognitive behavioural therapy and so can become a good introduction to the CBT model. Hypnosis integrates particularly with CBTI – both in terms of inducing rest (leading to sleep) – but also with changing unhelpful habits and associations.
The approach is broadly based on Charles Morin’s book Insomnia: Psychological Assessment and Management which is one of the classical textbooks for CBT for Insomnia. In addition we will bring a greater focus on relaxation and sleep induction methods (including hypnotic sleep induction) – and the use of hypnotherapy to change poor sleep habits and beliefs (e.g. negative expectations about sleeping) – as well as the use of hypnosis to mitigate the effects of a poor nights sleep. The workshop will include practical’s including assessment, monitoring, cognitive factors assessment and hypnotherapy.
After taking the workshop you will be able to join the Hypno-CBT® for Insomnia Professional Register and use the logo on your website and promotional materials.

“I was impressed with Mark’s enthusiasm for both hypnotherapy and for teaching when he trained on a Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy course I attended. So I later sought his help with one-to-one training in treating insomnia. His professional and detailed knowledge of the subject was greatly impressive, and he provided detailed and helpful resources as well as a great deal of encouragement. It was worth travelling from Estonia for that one day of one-to-one training.” – Martin Langrom, Clinical Hypnotherapist,
“The insomnia workshop has enhanced my understanding and confidence in providing a detailed and comprehensive intervention package.” – Stephen Gilling, Hypnotherapist
“This is a really great short course that gives you a clear idea of the aspects of insomnia (not what I expected) and how to approach them skilfully.” – Lauren Williams, Hypnotherapist
“A full packed, extremely instructive learning day that will prove in valuable in helping clients with insomnia. I liked the treatment plan example. Explanations were lucid and simple to follow. Am excited to implement this!” – Gail Flaum, Hypnotherapist (& Lawyer)
