Donald Robertson – Founder of The UK College of Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy
The College was founded in 2003 by Donald Robertson, a psychotherapist, trainer, and author known internationally for his pioneering work in cognitive-behavioural approaches and Stoic philosophy.

Donald established the College’s strong commitment to evidence-based practice, developing an academic training programme that integrated hypnosis with cognitive behavioural therapy — the approach that became known as Hypno-CBT®.
He is the author of The Philosophy of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (2010), which highlighted the philosophical roots of CBT in Stoicism, and has since become a respected figure in the international revival of Stoic philosophy through works such as How to Think Like a Roman Emperor (2019).
In 2013, Donald Robertson passed the leadership of the College to Mark R. Davis, who has since built upon its foundations and developed Hypno-CBT® into the world’s leading evidence-based model of hypnotherapy training.
Although Donald is no longer formally connected with the College, his role as Founder is honoured as part of our history and academic lineage.
