1. Commitment to Evidence-Based Training
We are committed to teaching an evidence-based approach. We believe therapists have an ethical duty to use the best methods available with their clients.

2. Intensive Fast Track Training
Our intensive fast-track training (three 7-day stages) leads to better learning than a weekend a month for year.

3. Great learning environment with committed fellow students
Our evidence-based approach, CBT focus and intensive format attracts more medical and mental health professionals as well those truly committed to a career change. We attract an incredibly wide-range of individuals and pride ourselves on creating an open, safe, wise learning environment where all learn from each other.

4. Wide range of techniques
We teach you a large “toolbox of techniques” (28 and counting) – all evidence-based and within the “cognitive-behavioural” approach (what’s called technically eclectic but theoretically coherent)

5. Evidence-based approach – builds confidence!
Learning an evidence-based approach instils confidence when you start work with clients – you know you are using the best approach currently available.

6. Philosophical basis for the approach
For those interested there is philosophical background to the approach (both Buddhist & Yoga philosophy – as well as Greek Stoic philosophy) – and you can adapt this to offer a true “philosophical hypno-therapy.”

7. Hypno-CBT®: truly unique
A unique integration of mindfulness, hypnosis and cognitive behavioural therapies (Hypno-CBT®)

8. Become a Hypno-CBT® Therapist!
You will be licenced to use our trademark (Hypno-CBT®) when you receive the Diploma.

9. Deep Integration of CBT and Hypnosis
The only college teaching a seamless integration of CBT with hypnosis. The “non-state model of hypnosis” which we teach (that hypnosis is not “trance” or a “special state”) is aligned with CBT concepts (for example hypnosis as motivation, focused attention, heightened expectancy, social context/roles, creative use of imagery etc,)

10. Extensive, well-written manuals
Each stage of the course is backed up by a very thoroughly researched, referenced, substantive course manual (3 manuals of 120,000 words each). Manuals include a full range of scripts and forms for working with clients.

11. Understand Anxiety & Stress completely
We train you in depth to help clients with anxiety and stress – the most common presenting issues. Whether dealing with social situations, medical issues, pain, sports performance – anxiety is nearly always an exacerbating factor.

12. We teach deep rather than wide and shallow.
It’s not a journey through every time of psychotherapy! Some courses teach a different type of psychotherapy on every weekend (Jungian, then Gestalt, then Humanistic, then NLP, then CBT – etc). Instead of ‘plenty of nuttin’ you will learn one approach in depth.

13. Learn to think like a therapist
We don’t teach a “paint by numbers” therapy (if x presents then do y) – nor do we teach shotgun therapy (“lets try this powerful technique… okay well then lets try this technique” ) we train you to assess, think and plan like a therapist – designing tailored treatment plans.

14. Thorough training in Assessment and Treatment Design
We include a very thorough training in how to conduct the initial assessment and design the treatment plan (the hardest part of therapy).

15. Accreditation
The Diploma is accredited by the two largest hypnotherapy organisations, the NCH and the GHR.

16. CNHC Membership
The Diploma allows you to register CNHC, after you have registered with NCH or GHR, to join a national register of hypnotherapists under the government Approved Voluntary Register scheme

17. Externally Verified Diploma
The Diploma in CBH is externally verified by NCFE (a government regulated national awarding and examining body) and is recognised as equivalent to NVQ Level 4. (We don’t print off our own Diplomas!)

18. Speak the same language as medical and mental health professionals.
A scientific, evidence-based approach to hypnosis and therapy (based on behavioural and cognitive science) will allow you to work closely with other health professionals (you’ll be talking the same language).

19. Skills Training that Empowers the Client
Our “skills training” approach means that your focus as a therapist is on empowering the client, more of a coach, educator and instructor (rather than an all-knowing, all-seeing wise guru psychotherapist).

20. Staying abreast of research
We stay up to date with the research on what is effective in psychotherapy.

21. 12 years of incremental improvement
Carefully designed approach that has been refined through constant student feedback over 12 years builds confidence and skills step by step and day by day.

22. Extensive Practical Experience
Nearly 50% of the course time is spent in practical work – either as hypnotherapist or client. By the end of the course you will have done over 30 practicals both as therapist and client through role play with scripts from the manuals.

23. Start doing hypnotherapy straightaway
We have you start hypnotherapy straight away: on the first day you learn self-hypnosis, on the second day you’ll be inducing hypnosis and delivering therapeutic suggestions. By the fourth day you will be creating customised scripts right in the session for your “client”.

24. Understanding of the Therapeutic Relationship
Research into psychotherapy consistently shows that the nature and quality of the therapeutic relationship is closely related to outcomes. We look in depth at what comprises “the therapeutic relationship”. How do we create and depend it? What's involved in managing it. What are the core tasks that all good psychotherapists engage in (irrespective of approach or method)?

25. Personal Growth and Development
The combination of group exercises, individual work (as therapist and especially as client) and group discussion offers the potential for tremendous personal growth. Not only have many students overcome fears and phobias on the course, several have experienced a profound shift in their whole confidence, behaviour, philosophy and view on life.

26. Excellent Reputation
We’ve been teaching the course for over 12 years – it has an excellent reputation (read some of the testimonials)

27. Diploma in CBH: approved by The British Psychological Society
This is the only hypnotherapy training course that is approved by The British Psychological Society (for continuing professional development for psychologists)

28. Additional Diploma in Stress Management & Resilience Building
An additional Diploma in Stress Management & Resilience Building is available via an additional 6 day Certificate course in SMRB followed by a short amount of additional home study. So one training + a short course = two Diplomas. The additional Diploma had been previously accredited at “Advanced Level” by ISMA (one of only two courses accredited at this level, although ISMA have recently changed the Advanced Level accreditation).

29. More marketing opportunities (Stress Management)
The additional Diploma in Stress Management & Resilience Building allows you to present a qualification that lets you market your skill set to the corporate and business market (rather than the individual/clinical market) – giving you much greater flexability in your market positioning.

30. Trainers are deeply experienced as therapists and trainers
Mark Davis, the lead trainer, has 9 years experience as a full time private therapist, plus a 25 year background in yoga & meditation instructor (5 years in India). Lorna Cordwell, our other trainer, has 24 years experience as a psychotherapist. Both still practice as therapists.

31. Modern, excellent course textbooks
The course is based on three excellent textbooks on hypnotherapy – in addition a recommended reading list of both psychotherapy classics and modern evidence-based textbooks is provided. Before choosing a training always ask what are the main textbooks!

32. Collective group wisdom and learning is a core value
We love to create a friendly learning environment in which students feel comfortable expressing themselves and learning, while building supportive relationships with fellow students. We believe everyone has something to offer – and this approach allows us teach to many different levels at once (We’ve had Professors of Psychology and Hairdressers on the same course – and learn from each other).

33. Generosity in teaching is a core value.
We want to give our students everything we can when we’re in the room with them. We have a reputation for generosity in teaching. Money back guarantee if not satisfied!

34. Transparency is a core value.
No overselling, no gloss, no exaggerated claims. We want you to be 110% sure this is the course for you. Come and observe a course in progress for free!

35. Finally – Enthusiasm! We love teaching this course!
