Announcement about our training courses

In light of the UK government’s latest advice, we have made the very difficult decision to no longer run our upcoming training courses live in a classroom until the end of 2020.

It may be longer than this – we will keep you updated.

This applies to all our courses and workshops.

If you have already booked a live training course, you have the option to postpone your studies or switch to either a live webcast or online version.

Online learning – what we are offering

We have thought very seriously about alternative tuition methods to replace face-to-face training during this time.

We are now running two training options for the Diploma: a live webcast training course and the already existing option of the Online Diploma.

This also applies to the Hypnotherapy Certificate course (Stage 1 of the Diploma): you can take the certificate as a webcast or an online course.

The main difference between these is the fact that the live webcast training will run on the same dates as the live courses in London were scheduled, whereas those who choose the Online Diploma will learn from already edited course footage.

Whether you choose the live webcast or an online course, your qualification will be equivalent to that achieved through the live classroom training.

You will also receive the course materials by post before the start date – and have access to electronic versions too if you wish.

Live webcast training

This is a great option for those who will have a lot of free time on their hands during this period, as we will stick to the live course schedule of teaching 10am to 6pm for the set course dates.

We will use the webinar platform Zoom, and the trainers will be broadcast directly from their own individual training spaces. You will be able to break out into pairs online to do the practicals.

For more information about and dates of the webcast training, please click here.

Online Diploma option

First and foremost the Online Diploma we are already offering is equivalent to the live training courses in terms of the training experience, skills learned, materials given and the qualification awarded.

We are confident that those taking the online hypnotherapy diploma are able to practice safely and competently as hypnotherapists, to exactly the same extent as those taking a live classroom training.

Reports from current Online Diploma trainees show they are loving it! Click here to watch some videos and read about their experiences of the Online Diploma.

A major element of the Online Diploma training is the 15 hours of one-to-one tutoring trainees receive. Your tutor is there to ensure that you are supported and encouraged during your training and feel confident, knowledgeable and excited about practising as a Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapist.

You can read more about the Online Diploma here.

We also have a self-led version of the online training – which results in a different qualification. You can read more about the self-led training here.

Blended learning: a mixture of webcast and online

We have also recently released a new Blended Learning format to take the Diploma. You can now take a mixture of dynamic, live webcast learning experience (or in-person training when this is back on) and flexible, online training at your own pace.

You can read about the blended learning options here.

Extra support features for online learning

Whether you choose the live webcast or Online Diploma training, we have included extra support features to help you as much as possible during this time.

We will use the best tools and technologies to support you and give you the chance to connect to the wider learning community – or directly with fellow trainees to do exercises in pairs – whilst training from your own home.

  • Online Group Practise Sessions: There will be online sessions focused specifically on practical exercises, facilitated by a course trainer. You will have the chance to break out into pairs online with your fellow trainees to practice the exercises and have a debrief and Q&A with a course trainer afterwards. You can also read our post about how to conduct case studies during this time here.
  • You will be able to attend regular live business-focused webinars and Q&As to supplement your learning of the course curriculum – how to put the approach into practice and start or build your therapy business.

Concerned about the accreditation of the Online Diploma?

NOTE: the live webcasting training option meets the ‘live training hours' requirement of certain professional bodies like GHR and NCH.

And the Online Diploma is now sufficient for membership with a whole range of professional organisations:

  • ACCPH (Accredited Coaches, Counsellors, Psychotherapists & Hypnotherapists)
  • FHT (Federation of Holistic Therapists)
  • REBHP (Register for Evidence-Based Hypnotherapy & Psychotherapy)
  • ASCH (Australian Society of Clinical Hypnosis)
  • IHA (International Hypnosis Association)
  • ICBCH (International Certification Board of Clinical Hypnotherapists) – USA

We understand that many of you would have chosen our live classroom training because it offers different membership options to hypnotherapy organisations in comparison with the online training.

Others are concerned more generally about “accreditation”.

Please be assured that the qualification awarded at the end of the training is accredited by a government regulated awarding body – and is recognised and accepted by several hypnotherapy organisations.

The qualification is the Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy, and it is accredited by NCFE, a  government-regulated, national awarding body that has been around for over 170 years.

This accredited qualification is benchmarked at Level 4 on the Qualifications Credit Framework.

We are the only hypnotherapy training organisation in the UK to develop our own externally verified, customised award (we don’t print off our own Diplomas).

To be clear, professional membership options are not the same as accreditation: the online training will allow you to get an accredited and recognised qualification in Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy: the only evidence-based hypnotherapy qualification available in the UK.

Up to this point, certain professional organisations would not allow membership for those who have completed the course online due to restrictions about ‘classroom contact’ hours – these are changing in light of the current crisis. Most of these professional bodies have now changed this requirement to include ‘simultaneous electronic presence'. This means those who take the webcast training can attain membership with these bodies, but those who take the online courses cannot.

If you do not live or intend to practice in the UK, the requirements from professional bodies do not apply to you.

To read more about the NCFE accreditation, why certain organisations currently deny membership for online trainees, the actual impact of non-membership, and how the situation is changing during the current coronavirus crisis, you can read our full information page here.

Online Learning is increasingly important right now

We want to support you as much as possible during this time – and encourage you to keep to your plans of becoming a therapist (or adding this approach to your practice) in spite of the major adjustments we are all going to have to make.

It is a critical time for people to be learning therapy, as more and more people are going to need the services, knowledge and skills that you will be able to provide.

Helping people to be less stressed and worried, calmer and focused on the present moment is so important right now.  Helping people to be able to think creatively and calmly about how best to manage the changes that are happening will be incredibly helpful.

We will teach you how to deliver online therapy, mindfulness and stress management safely and effectively during the training, as it will become increasingly necessary to help people using this format. The benefits of being of service to anyone around the world right now is obvious.

We believe that online learning itself, together with remote working/working at home, is going to be one of the major social changes arising from the current crisis. The implications of the Covid-19 outbreak are likely to change working patterns permanently – and we want to encourage you to enter the distance learning and working space and take advantage of its opportunities.

This is our time to learn that we can be connected – we can learn, teach and provide tremendous support via these new technologies.

This is a time of change and adaptation.

We encourage you to try our online learning environment – and experience the powerful personal transformation this can offer as we all find new ways to cope with the major changes in our daily lives.

We will update you with any other developments regarding our online learning services.
