How the Online Diploma works
Serious online hypnotherapy training needs structured teaching, expert individual feedback, supervised practice, formal assessment and a clear route into professional practice. The Online Diploma was deliberately designed to equal or exceed the learning experience of classroom training—not simply to reproduce a classroom on screen.
It uses a modern flipped-classroom model: you watch carefully structured lectures in your own time, then use your direct contact with your tutor for questions, discussion, practical exercises and focused feedback. That makes flexible use of both your study time and your tutor’s expertise.
Recorded teaching gives you control over when you learn; personal tutoring and live practice ensure you are not learning alone.

18 hours of one-to-one tutoring
The Online Diploma includes 18 hours of individual tutoring—more dedicated one-to-one contact with a trainer than the classroom route. Tutorial times are agreed directly between you and your tutor.
Bloom’s classic 1984 research reported that an average learner receiving one-to-one tutoring performed above 98% of conventionally taught students. The study was not about this Diploma and does not guarantee individual results; it helps explain why substantial individual tutor contact is built into the design. Read Bloom’s original paper.
Your tutor is a practising, registered Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapist who has completed the Diploma and specialist Hypno-CBT® supervision and learner-coaching training.
Key Feature 2:
Live supervised practice, four times each week
Practical work is central to the programme. In supervised Zoom sessions, you are paired with another student so each of you can practise the relevant script or exercise, receive feedback and debrief.
An experienced Tutor Supervisor is present to answer questions, guide the session and observe practical work. Multiple weekday, evening and weekend time slots help you fit practice around other commitments.
You are required to attend at least 12 supervised two-hour practice sessions and are encouraged to attend more. Sessions run four times weekly throughout the year and are included in the course fee. See how supervised online practice works.

Level 5 Higher Diploma
Completing the full programme and assessment leads to the Level 5 Higher Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy—an NCFE Customised Qualification, developed with the College and externally verified by NCFE.
NCFE has benchmarked the learning outcomes and assessment criteria at Level 5 using national framework descriptors. This is an unregulated qualification and is not a nationally recognised qualification.

These are related, but they are not the same thing. The panels below keep the distinctions clear.
Award and external verification
The Level 5 Higher Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy is an NCFE Customised Qualification. NCFE externally verifies the College’s delivery and assessment and has benchmarked the qualification at Level 5.
It is an unregulated qualification and is not a nationally recognised qualification. View a sample Diploma.
Professional membership routes
Professional organisations assess qualifications for membership. The Diploma is accepted by several bodies, including GHR/GHSC, NCH and NCIP; requirements can vary by organisation, format and country.

British Psychological Society: CPD Quality Mark approval
The training is approved through the BPS CPD Quality Mark Scheme for the purposes of continuing professional development. This is quality approval of the course; it is not BPS accreditation of the Diploma.
This is designed as a full practitioner pathway. Graduates can use the qualification to apply to relevant professional organisations, arrange appropriate insurance where available and establish a professional practice, subject to the requirements that apply in their country.

Practical information
Course duration and workload
- You are enrolled for 12 months, with access to revisit all videos and materials throughout that period.
- The recorded teaching contains approximately 100 hours of video.
- Training, practice, case studies and written assessment typically require 400–500 hours in total; we recommend planning for around 450 hours. Some learners will complete in under 400 hours – some may take up to 600 hours.
- Extensions can be arranged if required; extension fees may apply.
Course materials
PowerPoint slides and course manuals are supplied digitally by default. UK students may request printed materials on the Student Registration Form at no additional charge. International availability and delivery arrangements can be confirmed with the College.
